Club career
In his youth, Marius Gersbeck played for SC Siemensstadt and FC Brandenburg 03 Berlin until he moved to Hertha BSC in 2004. There Gersbeck went through all youth departments and rose to the U-23 team and thus to the regional league for the 2013/14 season.
The Berlin goalkeeper attracted attention on the last matchday of the first half of the 2013/14 season when he made his Bundesliga debut in the surprising 2-1 away win against Borussia Dortmund . Before that he had trained with the professionals several times and was able to convince coach Jos Luhukay . Since the 2014/15 season, Gersbeck has been a permanent part of the Hertha BSC professional squad.
On January 14, 2016, Gersbeck moved to the 3rd division for Chemnitzer FC on loan for a year and a half . At the same time, he extended his contract with Hertha BSC until June 30, 2018.
In the summer of 2016, his loan contract was terminated and he was loaned to VfL Osnabrück . There he established himself as a regular goalkeeper in two seasons and played 69 third division games.
For the 2018/19 season Gersbeck returned to Hertha BSC. Initially a loan to the 2nd Bundesliga was planned , but at the end of April 2018 he tore a cruciate ligament during training at VfL Osnabrück. Gersbeck worked during the season for his comeback, which he made in the second team in the fourth-rate Regionalliga Nordost at the end of March 2019 . Another assignment in the second agency followed by the end of the season.
For the 2019/20 season, Gersbeck moved to the second division club Karlsruher SC . He received a contract with the newcomer with a term until June 30, 2021. At KSC, Gersbeck is Benjamin Uphoff's replacement .
