Philipp Hofmann (born March 30, 1993 in Arnsberg ) is a German soccer player . He has been under contract with Karlsruher SC since the 2019/20 season and is a multiple junior national player.

societies

Hofmann started playing soccer at RW Wenholthausen in 2001 in Wenholthausen, Sauerland , for which he played for six years in the youth department before moving to SC Neheim in 2007 . From there he moved two years later to the youth team of FC Schalke 04 , with whom he was 2011 Westphalia Cup winner and runner-up in the Junior Bundesliga West season.

In the 2011/12 season he was used in the Schalke U-23 team in the Regionalliga West . In December 2011 Hofmann signed a professional contract running until June 30, 2014, which was valid from July 1, 2012 and made him a member of the professional squad. At the end of the season he was also used again in the A-Juniors, with whom he won the German A-Junior Championship. He scored the winning goal in the final against Bayern Munich .

In order to collect match practice, Hofmann was loaned to the second division club SC Paderborn 07 for the 2012/13 season. There he made his debut on the 2nd matchday in the 2nd Bundesliga when he came on for Diego Demme in the 85th minute of the game against VfL Bochum . After the loan to SC Paderborn ended, Hofmann's contract was extended to 2016 and it was then loaned to FC Ingolstadt 04 for two years . He returned to Gelsenkirchen for the 2014/15 season .

For the 2014/15 season Hofmann moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern . His contract ran until June 30, 2017. But after just one year he went to the English second division club Brentford FC until the summer of 2017 . With the 2017/18 season he moved back to Germany to the second division team SpVgg Greuther Fürth .

From January 2018 to June 2019 Hofmann was under contract with Eintracht Braunschweig . At the end of the 2017/18 season he was relegated with the team to the 3rd division and was the club's most successful goalscorer with 10 goals in the following season , in which the BTSV barely held the class.

For the second division season 2019/20 , the promoted Karlsruher SC signed the attacker. There he quickly rose to the undisputed regular player and ousted last year's top scorer of the 3rd division Marvin Pourié from the storm center. In the first half of the season Hofmann scored ten goals, including the 3-0 goal with an overhead kick in the 4-1 win against SSV Jahn Regensburg on matchday 15. This goal was later voted Goal of the Month for November 2019. In the second half of the season another seven goals followed, including a three-pack in a 3: 3 against the eventual second division champion Arminia Bielefeld on the penultimate matchday. With a total of 17 goals this season, Hofmann contributed significantly to the fact that the KSC was able to keep the class at the end of the season.

National team

On March 22, 2011 Hofmann made his debut in the German U18 national team when he was substituted on for the game against France. He scored his first international goal on September 4, 2011 when the German U19 national team played against the Netherlands. In qualifying for the 2012 U19 European Championship , he scored six goals.
