Dirk Gaerte

Dirk Gaerte (born January 22, 1947 in Sigmaringen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was from 1998 to 2014 full-time district administrator of the Sigmaringen district .

Life

Gaerte graduated after graduating from high school in 1966 at the boarding school Schloss Gaienhofen to military service in the artillery regiment 10 in the Colonel General von Fritsch-Kaserne (now Staufer barracks ) in Pfullendorf ; most recently as a reserve officer with the rank of a major in the reserve . From 1968 to 1974 he studied economics and public law at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and in 1968 became a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Hohenstaufen Freiburg. He completed his studies with a degree in economics.

In 1974 he became a member of the Economic Council of the CDU in Bonn . From 1974 to 1982 Gaerte was an employee in the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg and personal advisor and head of the office of the Prime Minister ( Hans Filbinger / Lothar Späth ), department for policy, planning and information. From 1982 he was a member of the representation of the state of Baden-Württemberg at the federal government in Bonn as a "social observer". In 1986 he took up a position in the Ministry of Labor, Health, Family and Social Affairs in the central office.

In 1987 Dirk Gaerte became the first mayor of the large district town of Böblingen . In 1995 it was re-elected. On October 13, 1998, Gaerte became district administrator of the Sigmaringen district as the successor to Jürgen Binder ("Binder affair"). On July 21, 2006, he was re-elected by the district council and on February 14, 2011, the term of office was further extended until he retired on June 30, 2014, when Stefanie Bürkle was elected as his successor.

Dirk Gaerte is married to Regine Gaerte. The marriage has two children. The couple lives in Sigmaringendorf .

Gaerte was chairman of the supervisory board of Kliniken Landkreis Sigmaringen GmbH and a member of the supervisory board of EnBW . Since 1998 he has been chairman of the Fürst-Carl-Stiftung , a foundation for the promotion of talented students and young scientists at the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University . In 2015/2016 he made the pilgrimage alone and on foot along the Way of St. James from Sigmaringen to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela .

Dirk Gaerte is committed to numerous social projects in the Holy Land . 2016 he was appointed by Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick O'Brien Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem appointed and in Bonn on 24 September 2016 Reinhard Cardinal Marx , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy in the Order invested . He is a member of the German Association of the Holy Land .
