The Andabamba District is located in the Acobamba Province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was established on November 23, 1925. It has an area of ​​81.9 km². At the 2017 census, 3352 residents lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 3340, in 2007 it was 4802. The district administration is located in the 3460  m high village of Andabamba with 612 inhabitants (as of 2017). Andabamba is 17.5 km north-northwest of the provincial capital, Acobamba .

Geographical location

The Andabamba District is located in the far north of the Acobamba Province. The longitudinal extent in NW-SE direction is about 15.5 km, the maximum width is 6.5 km. The district is located in the arid Andean highlands on the right bank of the Río Mantaro, which flows to the southeast .

The Andabamba district borders in the southwest on the Paucará district , in the northwest on the Acoria district ( Huancavelica province ), in the northeast on the Cosme and Anco districts (both in the Churcampa province ) and in the southeast on the Rosario district .
