The district of Ocumal is one of the 23 northern Peruvian districts that make up the province of Luya in the Amazon region. The district has an area of ​​235.86 km². The 2017 census counted 3446 inhabitants.

Ocumal has no access to a road.

The village festival in Collonce, the district capital, takes place from December 8th to 10th. In the village of Caldera there is the village festival on August 15th, "la fiesta de la Virgen Asunta".

In the north, the Ocumal district borders on the Ocallí and Inguilpata districts , in the east on the Colcamar district , in the south on the Pisuquía and Balsas districts and in the west on the Providencia and Choropampa districts.
