The Luya Viejo District is one of the 23 Peruvian districts that make up the Luya Province .
It borders on the Santa Catalina district in the north, the Luya district in the south and the Conila district in the west .
The district was officially founded on November 22, 1918. It housed 388 residents in 2017. The district administration is located in the village of Luya Viejo.
The village festival is celebrated on August 30th.
