The San Juan Bautista District is a district in the Maynas Province of the Loreto Region in northeastern Peru . The district founded on November 5, 1999 forms a district of Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon region . The district has an area of 3,117.05 km². In the 2017 census, the population was 127,005, 10 years earlier 102,076. The administrative seat is in San Juan .
Geographical location
The San Juan Bautista District is located in the southwest of Maynas Province. It extends north of the Río Marañón and the Amazon and extends in the east to the suburbs of Iquitos.
mayor
José Martín Arévalo Pinedo was elected in the mayoral election for the period 2019-2022. At the end of 2019, he was suspended from office for legal reasons. His deputy, Ángel Enrique López Rojas, then took over the office.
