The Torres Causana district is located in the Maynas Province in the Loreto region in northeastern Peru . The district was established on July 2, 1943. The district has an area of 6912 km². At the 2017 census, 4,947 residents lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 4238, in 2007 it was 4865. The administrative seat is the 188 m high village Cabo Pantoja with 514 inhabitants (as of 2017) on the left bank of the Río Napo . Cabo Pantoja is located 375 km north-northwest of the provincial and regional capital Iquitos on the border with Ecuador .
Geographical location
The Torres Causana district is located in the Peruvian Amazon in the extreme north of Maynas Province. The Río Napo crosses the district in a south-easterly direction. The Río Aguarico runs in the extreme northwest along the Ecuadorian border with the Río Napo.
The Torres Causana district is bordered by the Napo district to the east, south and southwest , Ecuador to the northwest and the Teniente Manuel Clavero and Rosa Panduro districts to the north .
