The Doha Stadium ( Hebrew אצטדיון דוחא, Etztadion Doha; Arabic ستاد دوحة; English Doha Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Israeli city of Sachnin , which lies in the mountains of Galilee . The facility in the northern district of the country is used by the football club FC Bnei Sachnin as a venue and offers 8,500 seats. Furthermore, FC Ahva Arraba and the women's football club FC Bnot Sachnin play their games in the Doha Stadium.
history
For the 2003/04 season , FC Bnei Sachnin rose to the first Israeli league, the Ligat ha'Al . The following year, the club surprisingly won the Israeli Cup in 2004. At that time, the club did not yet have its own football stadium. Construction began in 2004 and the inauguration took place in 2006. The residents of Sachnin are mostly Muslim and Christian Arabs with Israeli citizenship. The stadium was financed by the State of Israel and the National Olympic Committee of Qatar , al-Ladschna al-ulimbiyya al-Qatariyya , which donated six million US dollars (about 5.14 million euros). It was the first investment by a Persian Gulf state in Israel. The joint financing is intended to illustrate the peaceful and friendly relations between the Jewish state of Israel and the Islamic emirate of Qatar. The venue is therefore also called Peace Stadium ( German Peace Stadium designated). The Doha Stadium bears the name of the Qatari capital Doha . In 2009 the stadium was expanded for 18 million ILS (around 4.3 million euros). In addition to a new stand behind the gate on the north side with 3,500 spaces, the facility was expanded to include 400 parking spaces.
