Don Burgess (cameraman)

Don Michael Burgess (born May 28, 1956 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American cinematographer .

Life

After studying at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena , Burgess first shot documentaries, industrial films and worked as a cameraman for commercials. He gained his first experience in feature film productions as a second-unit cameraman and as a camera operator. Burgess has worked as head cameraman since the early 1990s and was nominated for an Oscar and an ASC Award for Best Cinematographer in 1994 for his work on Forrest Gump . Since then he has also worked frequently with the director Robert Zemeckis .

Burgess, who lives in Pasadena, is married with three children. In 2003 he was accepted as a member of the ASC .
