history

Nudow village church

A first indication of the existence of a sacred building can be found in the land book of Charles IV. There two parish hooves are mentioned in the 14th century . Thus, a clergyman should have been there and therefore also a church. Another mention can be found in a church book of the Bishop of Brandenburg from the years 1527 to 1529, which was created for tax purposes. A parish church was mentioned in Nudow (“Prokuration und subsidium charitativium”). The church patronage at that time was that of von Schlabrendorff .

In 1672 a glassworks was built in Drewitz at the behest of the Brandenburg Elector . Many of the people who work there moved from Switzerland and settled in the region. The population increased and with it the desire for a church of their own. This was built - perhaps on the remains of a previous building - in the years 1733/1734 on behalf of Friedrich Wilhelm I, presumably under the direction of Johann Gottfried Kemmeter . It was one of only a few Kronkirchen in Brandenburg. At a later point in time, craftsmen expanded the seating by adding a horseshoe gallery. Built there in 1853, a organ builder in 1853 an organ on, but that was already heavily in need of repair in the year 1878th The parish tried to find a replacement, but this could not be realized until 1932 with a new Schuke organ . In 1929 a local researcher found 23 death boards and four skulls in different sizes in the gallery . A restoration took place in 1964 and 1965. Even so, just a few years ago the church was in poor shape. So the roof was broken and the wood was attacked by the sponge and ram . In the meantime, thanks to financial support from the neighboring communities of Ahrensdorf , Gröben and Siethen , the church district of Zossen and many private donations, the exterior renovation including the repainting has been completed. In 2005, during a visit to the church, a historian discovered 15 of the original 23 death boards in the attic.

In addition to the church services, exhibitions and concerts take place regularly in the church, also to finance the further renovation of the church.

Building description

Crown above the tower ball

The building is a simple, rectangular structure that was built from bricks and then plastered . It is around 16 meters long and around 10 meters wide. On the south side of the nave there are two pressed, segment-arched windows. Their shape is emphasized with plastered bottles . On the south side is a central gate with a cornice above it . On the opposite north side there are three windows. The ship is equipped with a simple gable roof covered. The building is with corner pilaster strip divided.

This is followed by the squat, square west tower . It can be entered through a gate on the west side. Above it is a small window, while a panel in the form of the window on the nave was installed on the north and south sides . A cornice at the height of the roof ridge of the nave separates the upper floor of the tower . There is a sound arcade on each of the three accessible sides . Behind it are three bells. The tower ends with a simple tent roof and a tower ball on which a crown with the initials of the second Prussian king is placed.

Furnishing

View into the nave

The polygonal pulpit is made of wood and has a simple, white color. The only jewelry are in separate cassettes that have been provided with a gold frame. In them there are light green fields into which light, marbling surfaces have been worked. Above the pulpit is an equally simple sounding cover with a truncated pyramid on which a monogram of the king was affixed at an earlier time . It stands in the middle of the choir and, like the gallery and stalls, dates from the time the church was built. On the door leading from the ship to the tower, the remains of a Gothic door fitting have been preserved. The Fünte was created by the sculptor Stoeck in 1865 . Several plaques commemorate those who fell from the Wars of Liberation and the World Wars. The inside of the structure is flat covered.

The simplicity of the church is not an expression of the poverty of the village, but a basic principle in the Reformation tradition of the royal family at that time. Similar churches can be found above all in Reformation countries such as Switzerland and the Netherlands .

In the summer of 1884 a weathered epitaph for Barbara von Thümen was let into the enclosure . The inscription is no longer legible in 2017 and read as follows: Anno 1577, August 8th, the strict and honorable Casper von Reibnitz honorable housewife Barbara von Thümen fell asleep in God. Grant the souls to God forever grace, amen .
