The Steinhagen village church is a 13th century village church in the Western Pomeranian community of Steinhagen .

history

The church was first mentioned in 1283. It was founded near the Neuenkamp monastery.

Jakob Liefer was pastor of the church from 1634 to 1639 .

location

The church is located in the center of the village, surrounded by the listed parsonage (1810), the cemetery (with a memorial stone for the German fallen in World War I), a barn and a historic orchard with 70 trees of rare apple varieties.

shape

The Gothic hall church was built from brick . On the southern wall of the nave, stepped, coupled, ogival wall niches are executed below the windows. The eastern gable has slender, domed, pointed arch windows.

Furnishing

In connection with the interior of the building, the entirety of the equipment results in an atmospheric ensemble.

The furnishings include medieval fresco paintings on the east wall (around 1380) depicting the coronation of Mary and the Last Judgment, a triumphal cross group (end of the 15th century) as an altarpiece ( crucifix , Mary, John ), baroque paintings on the galleries and the pulpit ( 1659; Life of Jesus, Passion , Song of Solomon ) and an epitaph for the founder of the paintings, Klinkowström. In the western yoke there is ornamental painting of the ribs.

The baptismal font of granite dates from the 13th century.

A murder cheek from the end of the 15th century shows the murdered person and the Last Judgment in incised drawings, it is reminiscent of the murder of the monk Detmarius Mohrdorf and was moved from the outside area to the tower hall for conservation reasons.

Also worth mentioning are a tower clock from around 1750, which originally sounded the hour bell and displayed the time through a dial that no longer exists today, as well as a sundial from around 1800 , a simple stone slab, on the south porch.

organ

The organ was made by Friedrich Albert Mehmel in 1863 and restored in 1993.

Peal

The bell dates from 1683 and was cast by Adam Lomeier.

The Protestant parish Steinhagen / Negast has been part of the Stralsund Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Demmin parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
