Dornier Thu 30

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dornier Do 30 was a transport aircraft that Dornier offered to the Bundeswehr in 1960. It was a STOL aircraft and built on the experience with the Do 29 . When the German Armed Forces commissioned the development of the V / STOL Do 31 aircraft , Dornier postponed the project and finally stopped it entirely.

description

The Do 30 was designed as a load and troop transporter (max. 30 men), as a medical aircraft (18 injured on stretchers and accompanying personnel), for air supply (pallet drop), in civilian use as a feeder aircraft for 28 passengers, as a civilian cargo transporter as well as a touring aircraft for industry and authorities. In contrast to the Do 29, the propellers could not be swiveled and were also forward-pointing pull propellers.

It was a high-wing aircraft with a rectangular wing, fixed slat and double-slit landing flaps. The two propeller turbines were on short stems under the wings and were connected to one another by gears and shafts. The fuselage, which was round in cross section, had a usable inside width of 2.3 m, 1.8 m high and 8 m long. A tailgate was provided for the transport version. With a take-off weight of 10.8 tonnes, take-off distances should be 165 m (over 10.5 m obstacle) and 200 m landing distance (over 15 m obstacle).
