The Dornier Do 23 was a German bomber from the Dornier works .
development
The aircraft was developed as a further development of the Dornier Do 13 and the Dornier Do 11 . Changes affected the bow windows and the rotating mounts of the defensive armament. Structural changes were not made.
From 1934 to 1935 a few hundred pieces were made for the Luftwaffe, all of which were replaced by the Dornier Do 17 from 1936 onwards. Converted Do 23 were used during the war as a mine clearer as part of the Mausi minesweeping group and on a trial basis as a chemical fighter aircraft.
