Dornier Do 216
The Dornier Do 216 was a planned military large flying boat of the Dornier works .
The aircraft was designed when work on the civil Dornier Do 214 had to be stopped. The Do 216 was a military development of the Do 214. The aircraft was similar in structure to the Do 214, but was smaller and should be made up of only four Junkers Jumo 222 with 2500 hp each or, as an alternative, six Daimler-Benz DB 603 with 1750 hp each are driven. These should act on each wing on one pull and one push propeller (Junkers) or on each two pull and one push propellers (Daimler-Benz). The hull should only be one-story and provided with glazed defenses. The crew should consist of ten men. Seven of them were assigned to the three rear, two upper and two front defense posts.
The Reich Aviation Ministry rejected the draft due to a lack of demand.
