The Dornier Do 20 was a projected large flying boat for the Dornier-Werke .

development

The flying boat in 1935 was designed as a further development of the Dornier Do X . The structure was largely similar to the Do X. The biggest change concerned the engine arrangement, in addition to an aerodynamically improved fuselage. Eight diesel engines with an output of 800 HP to 1000 HP were provided, each of which drove a propeller in pairs via a coupling gear and a remote shaft. The number of propellers has been reduced from twelve to four pure pull propellers compared to the Do X. It was planned to transport up to 2000 kg payload or up to 60 passengers. Since the Deutsche Lufthansa did not place an order for the development, the project was not realized.
