Dorothea Chryst , real name: Dorli-Maria Chryst (born August 12, 1940 in Halberstadt ) is a German opera and operetta singer ( soprano ).

Life

Dorothea Chryst received singing lessons a. a. with Christl Gernot-Heindl (Opernstudio Gernot-Heindl) in Munich, Clemens Glettenberg , Cologne, as well as with Kammersänger Josef Metternich , the long-time lecturer at the Cologne University of Music .

In 1964 she made her debut at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich as the maid Anna in the comical and fantastic opera Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor , by Otto Nicolai . Chryst interpreted major parts of opera literature, mainly from the field of soubrette and lyrical coloratura soprano , including Norina in Don Pasquale , Marie in Zar and Zimmermann , Despina in Così fan tutte , Zdenka in Arabella , Nedda in Bajazzo , the Zerlina in Fra Diavolo and the Olympia in Hoffmann's stories . There were also various roles from the field of operetta (e.g. Adele in Die Fledermaus ) and musicals.

In the 1971/72 season she played Adele in a new bat production by Kurt Pscherer at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz . Until 1973 she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, but kept returning for guest roles. In the 1979/80 season she sang Fiorella in the Opéra-bouffe Die Banditen . In 1981 she also took over the dancer Teresa Casacci in the West German premiere of the GDR musical Casanova (premiere: February 1981, director: Kurt Pscherer) by Helmut Bez and Jürgen Degenhardt ; Their role had only been considered by the authors with two short appearances and a few vocal lines in the Poland picture of Part II. In the 1980/81 season she took over Fiordiligi in a new production of Così fan tutte at the Gärtnerplatztheater (premiere: March 1981, director: Bohumil Herlischka ); she “doesn't need to be ashamed of her rock aria, even if there were some not quite perfect intonations.” In the 1982/83 season the musette in La Bohème followed (premiere: October 1982; director: Kurt Pscherer). In the 1983/84 season she sang the role of Marguérite Duménil in a new production of the Heuberger operetta Der Opernball . Until 1992 Dorothea Chryst appeared as a guest at the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz .

For her many years of artistic work in Munich, she was appointed Bavarian Chamber Singer .

Furthermore, she gave guest appearances at all major German-speaking opera / operetta stages a. a. in Munich, at the Nuremberg Opera House, Vienna (1975, participation in the Wiener Festwochen ), Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. In December 1969 she made a guest appearance at the Vienna State Opera as Adele. At the Mörbisch Seefestspiele , Dorothea Chryst took over the role of the letter Christ in 1974 in the operetta The Bird Trader . At the Bregenz Festival in 1975 she sang the role of cook Ciboletta in the Strauss operetta Eine Nacht in Venice .

For many years she was a lecturer in singing at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg (today: Leopold Mozart Center ). The sopranos Stephanie M.-L. Bornschlegl , Anja Augustin , Ingrid Fraunholz , the mezzo-soprano Annette Beck , the bass Markus Wandl and the tenor Tobias Wall .

Furthermore, she took u. a. with Margit Schramm , Gisela Ehrensperger , Rudolf Schock and Ferry Gruber on numerous records.
