Trinity Church

The evangelical Dreieinigkeitskirche ( listen ? / I ) is in the Berlin district of Tegel in the Reinickendorf district in the street An der Mäckeritzbrücke 4. It was designed by Emil Fangmeyer. Otto Bartning contributed to the interior design . Audio file / audio sample

history

For the south of the Tegel airport situated garden colonies , the south by the Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal from the residential areas Hasel Horst separated, found on 11 April 1954, the foundation stone was laid for the Trinity Chapel, as the small hall church was first called instead. It was inaugurated on October 3rd of the same year. The construction was carried out with the support of the Swedish churches . The parish was initially a daughter of the Christmas Church in Haselhorst . In 1959 the Trinity congregation became independent and remained so until 2005. In 2006 it merged with the congregation in Siemensstadt. Despite the merger, both preaching sites will be maintained.

Building description

The architect succeeded in integrating a half-timbered church into the landscape , which was already characterized by tall trees back then . In one side, slightly lower section of the building a small station for the community nurses attached. It was enlarged in 1963 by an extension by the architect Dietrich Römer. Today the kindergarten is located there . On the roof ridge of the deep gable roof is a roof turret as a bell carrier . The skeleton of the narrow, dark bars and bars of the framework is filled with white painted masonry .

The altar window was designed by Karl-Moritz Menzel-Sand. As a symbol of the Trinity, it shows fish below and a dove above, symbolizing the Holy Spirit . In the middle, the Agnus Dei indicates the symbol for Jesus Christ . The colors blue and yellow predominate in the mosaic windows on the side walls, in thanks for the support of the Swedish church with the construction.

Bell jar

The bell, financed with the help of foreign donations and cast by JF Weule , rang for the first time on October 31, 1954. With a diameter of 48 cm and a height of 42 cm plus a crown of 7 cm, it weighs 67 kg. Her striking note is g and her shoulder is inscribed

“O, COUNTRY, COUNTRY, COUNTRY, HEAR THE LORD'S WORD, JER. 22.29 ".

The chest organ comes from the Berlin organ building workshop Karl Schuke .
