Dries Steijnen (born July 25, 1983 in Herentals ) is a former Belgian ice hockey player who was Belgian champion with HYC Herentals and IHC Leuven .

Career

Dries Steijnen started his career with HYC Herentals in his hometown. As a 17-year-old he made his debut in the Belgian first division in the 2000/01 season and won the Belgian national championship with the team in 2002 and the Belgian ice hockey cup a year later . In 2004 he left his hometown and joined Olympia Heist op den Berg for two years . From 2006 to the end of his career in 2013 he played for IHC Leuven , with which he also played in the Belgian-Dutch North Sea Cup in the 2011/12 season, in addition to his appearances in the honor division . With the team from the traditional university town, he was again Belgian champion in 2010 and 2013.

International

For Belgium, Steijnen only took part in the 2001 U18 World Cup in the junior division.

With the men's national team , Steijnen took part in the World Championships in Division II in 2003 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2013 . At the 2004 World Cup he played with the Belgians in Division I.
