The square village Droßdorf was mentioned in 1267 as "Drosansdorf". In contrast to the neighboring town of Tirpersdorf, Droßdorf belonged partly to the Electoral Saxon and Royal Saxon offices of Plauen and Voigtsberg until the 19th century . Around 1764 it was for the Plauen part alone at the Mechelgrün manor under part. The Voigtsberg part of Droßdorf was partly under the manorial rule of the Schloditz manor . In terms of church, Droßdorf has always been parish after Theuma.

In 1856 Droßdorf was affiliated with the Oelsnitz court office and in 1875 with the Oelsnitz administration . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the Droßdorf community came to the Oelsnitz district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On July 1, 1973, the neighboring towns of Altmannsgrün, Obermarxgrün and Schloditz were incorporated with the Schloditzer portion of Juchhöh. The municipality of Droßdorf came to the Saxon district of Oelsnitz in 1990, which was added to the Vogtlandkreis in 1996.
