Duncan Mackay

Duncan Mackay (* 2. July 1950 in Leeds , Yorkshire , England ) is an English symphonic rock - singer , keyboardist , composer and arranger . He played with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel , Colosseum II , 10cc , The Alan Parsons Project , Budgie , Camel and Kate Bush .

Career

He began his musical career by playing the violin . In 1970 he was invited to tour Brazil and South Africa with members of the Sergio Mendes Band . During this time he composed for the first time and recorded his first solo album Chimera in South Africa. In the early 1970s, Mackay developed his distinctive keyboard technique under the name Branch Office .

Mackay returned to England in 1973 to play in Ginger Baker's new band. Then he switched to the band Colosseum II with Gary Moore and Jon Hiseman on guitar. In 1975 he became a member of Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel , the climax of which was the single Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) . The single hit the charts in Great Britain and Europe at number 1. He then took part in the extensive tour with the band and the four best-selling releases. During the same period Mackay released his second album Results , which was released by EMI Records .

In the 1970s he worked as a studio musician under the name Mickey Mackay in Abbey Road Studios . He played on Kate Bush's first three albums , such as her debut album The Kick Inside and the hit single Wuthering Heights . He was also involved in the recording of the band The Alan Parsons Project and can be heard on the albums I Robot , Pyramid and Eve . He then appeared on two Camel albums , Nude and The Single Factor. With Budgie he recorded their third album Visa in 1978 . In 1979 he became a member of the British super group 10cc . Mackay began producing film soundtracks during this time. In 1993 Mickey Mackay moved back to Cape Town, where he composed TV music. In 2003 he founded the band Re Union together with singer and guitarist Greg Mcewan and toured with this band.
