Rick Fenn
Richard 'Rick' Fenn (born May 23, 1953 ) is a British rock singer , guitarist and keyboardist. From 1977 he became known as a member of the band 10cc . He also worked with Mike Oldfield , Rick Wakeman , Hollies singer Peter Howarth and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason .
Career
Rick's musical career began in Oxford, where he was the head of the Bagshot Louie school band . He then joined the band Hamilton Gray , moved to Manchester and became a member of the band Gentlemen . His first TV appearance was on a show called So It Goes (with the Sex Pistols ). Paul Burgess recommended that he come to 10cc . He was there since the end of 1976 and at the presentation of the 10cc album Deceptive Bends . From 1979 he toured with Mike Oldfield and recorded the album Five Miles Out with him .
In 1985 he recorded his own solo album under the name Mason & Fenn Profiles with Nick Mason. The single from the album, Lie for a Lie, sung by David Gilmour and Maggie Reilly, was a hit in the US. In the 1980s, Fenn and Mason founded Bamboo Music , a company that produced music jingles for corporate clients. During these years he toured with artists such as Rick Wakeman, Jack Bruce , Elkie Brooks and Wax (with Andrew Gold and Graham Gouldman ). As a guitarist, he has been involved in the recording of numerous artists, including Cliff Richard , Peter Green , Agnetha Fältskog , Marilyn , Sniff 'n' the Tears , John Wetton and Justin Hayward .
In the late 1980s, he composed and wrote titles for television documentaries, dramas and comedies (including series by Hale and Pace and Craig Charles ) and a number of feature films. Among them was White of the Eye, another collaboration with Nick Mason. In the years that followed, he won several awards for film music. A soundtrack earned him a Gold Clio Award in America in 1989 for the best song Peter Howarth sang. In 1990 they wrote a rock opera Robin, Prince of Sherwood and they toured the UK for a year. Rick and Peter then formed the band Feramones .
Rick recently toured across Germany as part of the Nokia Night of The Proms Band and for 10cc . He also played with Tears For Fears , Robin Gibb and Kim Wilde .
When he's not working on 10cc, Rick now spends most of his time at his home in Australia.
