Eberhard Bachmann
Eberhard Bachmann (born February 17, 1924 in Meißen ; † June 2008 in Dresden ) was a German painter and sculptor .
Life
After finishing school, Bachmann completed an apprenticeship as a modeller at the State Porcelain Manufactory in Meißen from 1938 to 1942 .
1947–1949 he studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts with Eugen Hoffmann , then he moved to the East Berlin Art Academy as a master student of Heinrich Drake . After graduating in 1954, Bachmann lived as a freelance artist in what was then the Hohenschönhausen district . Finally, in 1961, he took up a teaching post at the Weißenseer Kunsthochschule and was soon given a professorship for the subject of plastic-spatial basics , which he taught until 1989.
Bachmann was married and had three children.
He was a personal member of the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt am Main .
Works
At first he mainly created statues, but from the 1980s onwards he also painted landscapes, still lifes and portraits. When portraying, he placed particular emphasis on a dialogue with his counterpart, which made the representation particularly lively and yet remained limited to the essentials. - In 2009 a large part of his estate was shown in the art gallery 100 in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen. As early as 1987 and 2004, factory exhibitions were shown at the same location.
