Eberhard Budziat

Eberhard Budziat (* 1961 in Esslingen ) is a German jazz - trombonist , composer and bandleader .

Life and musical work

Budziat, who grew up in Esslingen, started learning the trombone at the Liebersbronn music association there when he was twelve. At the age of 18 he discovered jazz for himself, was tutored by Bobby Burgess and played as a freelance musician in various regional and national formations in the greater Stuttgart area. a. with Bobby Burgess and his “World of Trombones”, assistant at the then Erwin Lehn Südfunk dance orchestra, member of the state youth jazz orchestra LaJazzO.

The attempt to be accepted at a German music academy failed. Following his teacher's encouragement, Budziat applied for a scholarship in the United States. In 1988 he was accepted as a fellow at the University of North Texas at Denton . There he was a member of the college bands One o'Clock and Two o'Clock Lab under the direction of Neil Slater . He completed his studies with a bachelor's degree in jazz performance and was still a freelancer for six months on cruise ships and in the Dallas / Ft. Region. Worth active.

In 1994 Budziat returned to Germany. After his return to Germany, his stylistic openness resulted in a wide range of activities for him. He works as a professional musician in the jazz scene as well as in the field of serious and popular music. In addition to his work as a freelance musician, composer and arranger, he is active as a teacher for trombone and tuba at various music schools. From 1997 to 2011 he was the director of the Gomaringen music association (big band, wind orchestra, youth band and polka troupe). Since 2000 he has directed the Daimler Classic Jazz Orchestra DCJO (various CD productions). As a juror of the Bavarian Jazz Association he was active at the Bavarian Youth Jazz Prize.

Budziat lives and writes in Korb in the Remstal.
