Eberhard von Trier , also Eberhard von Schwaben (* around 1010; † April 15, 1066 in Trier ), from the Ezzonen family , was the son of Count Ezelin (Hezzelin / Hermann) von Schwaben, thus grandson of Count Palatine Hermann I of Lorraine and Archbishop of Trier from 1047 to 1066.

Before his appointment by Emperor Heinrich III. which took place with the consent of the clergy and people, he was Provost of Worms . During his tenure, Eberhard accompanied the Bishop of Toul Bruno (Bruno von Egisheim-Dagsburg) to Rome in 1048 , to attend his enthronement to Pope Leo IX. to participate. From him he received in 1049 in Rome the primacy of the Trier Church over Gaul confirmed. In the same year he traveled to Reims and Mainz to take part in the papal reform synods as a promoter of the Lorraine church reform . Already in the year of death of Henry III. One of his last major official acts was the ordination of the sword line of King (and later Emperor) Henry IV in 1065 of Worms. Eberhard is buried in the collegiate monastery St. Paulin zu Trier.
