coat of arms

Coat of arms of Eckerde
Blazon : "In gold , above a red lion stridingto the right , below threered bars growing out of the base of the shield and reaching to the lion's rear paws."
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms of Eckerde shows the depiction of the coat of arms stones of the noble family "von Lo" which were placed on the church door at the end of the 13th century for their services to the place. The red lion (leopard) on a golden background symbolizes the centuries-long supremacy of the Guelph princes since the early days.

Culture and sights

  • The manor Eckerde I has belonged to the von Heimburg family since ancient times . The manor house was built in the 19th century instead of a burned down Renaissance building, of which a stair tower still exists. The manor park, restored according to historical plans, with old trees is a listed building.
  • The manor Eckerde II belonged to the noble von Holle family from around 1300 until the 20th century and was inherited by the Ausmeyer family. A one-story mansion was built away from the former castle site in 1827, and a second floor was added in 1892. This includes a 3 hectare landscape park.
