Wichtringhausen is a north-western district of the city of Barsinghausen on the edge of the Hanover region in Lower Saxony . The B 65 leads through the village . a. connects to the west with the A2 .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1188 as "Wicmeringehusen" in a feudal register of the Minden bishop. Wichtringhausen is located on the medieval trade route " Hellweg vor dem Santforde ", which connected Hildesheim and Braunschweig with the cities of Westphalia and whose course largely corresponds to that of today's B65 .

The Wichtringhausen manor was originally given as a fiefdom from the property of the Counts of Schaumburg. Sub-jurisdiction has been part of the fiefdom since 1600, which was transferred to the then fiefdom holder Otto von Reden at that time . Georg Reinhard Langwerth von Simmern acquired the estate in 1743. The Hanoverian politician and member of the Reichstag Heinrich Langwerth von Simmern (1833–1914) restored the manor house and the outbuildings and enlarged the estate to 1,300 acres through rounding-up purchases. The afforestation can also be traced back to him. The estate is still owned by his descendants today.

The Galerieholländer windmill in Wichtringhausen, built in 1752, burned down except for the mill tower in 1795 and was rebuilt in 1819. In 1824 the mill was moved 50 m to its current location. It operated until 1972.

The manor house of the Wichtringhausen manor is surrounded by a wide moat and was probably built in the 16th century. The lower part of the building is quarry stone masonry, the upper part is plastered half-timbering. The estate is surrounded by a park with mature trees.
