Hellweg in front of the Santforde

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hellweg in front of the Santforde is a former trade route .

Running in a west-east direction, the Hellweg led from the Isselstädten ( Zwolle , Deventer , Arnheim ) in what is now the Netherlands via Rheine to Bremen and the East Westphalian region around Minden and Paderborn . It connected to the Westphalian Hellweg in Minden and merged there with the Hellweg coming from the Ems under the mountain .

At the Bückethaler Landwehr between Bantorf and Bad Nenndorf , the Hellweg reached what is now the Hanover region . From here it ran over Wichtringhausen , Goltern , Leveste , Gehrden , Ronnenberg and Pattensen to the Leine . From there it continued via Sarstedt to Hildesheim .

Various castles and fortifications are known that secured Hellweg. In addition to the Heisterburg in Deister, they include a castle complex on the castle hill near Gehrden . At Osnabrück he crossed the Bremer Heerweg near the Schnippenburg , which was used as a long-distance trading place from the 3rd century BC. Is interpreted.

A branch of the Hellweg led along the northern edge of the Deister via Wennigsen and Calenberg to Hildesheim. In the east, it is now partially identical to Bundesstrasse 65 .
