The village of Göxe [ ˈgøːksə ] is a northeastern district of the city of Barsinghausen in the Hanover region , Lower Saxony ( Germany ). In the village, the L390 crosses with the federal highway 65 .
history
Göxe is mentioned for the first time in 1266 in a document as "Gokesse". This designation means something like "to the houses of the Gogo".
The place was close to the medieval trade route that connected Hildesheim and Braunschweig with the cities of Westphalia and whose course largely corresponds to that of today's B 65.
On July 1, 1968, Göxe united with the communities of Eckerde , Großgoltern , Nordgoltern and Stemmen to form the community of Goltern . On March 1, 1974, as part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony, the municipality of Goltern was incorporated into the town of Barsinghausen, which today has 18 districts.
politics
City Councilor and Mayor
Göxe is at the local level by the Council, representing the city Barsinghausen.
coat of arms
The design of the coat of arms of Göxe comes from the heraldist and graphic artist Alfred Brecht , born in Gadenstedt and later living in Hanover , who has already designed the coats of arms of Aligse , Bantorf , Barrigsen and many other places in the Hanover district. The approval of the coat of arms was granted on November 10, 1959 by the district president in Hanover.
Blazon : "In blue from a green shield base a golden oak with seven leaves and four acorns , in front of it in silver the " Lying Stone " , a round stone slab on three supports." | |
Justification for the coat of arms: The gigantic oak, growing in unbroken vitality, is an ornament of the village and a silent witness from the past to the future, but the stone at its feet points to the early history of the place, so that both are symbols for a coat of arms to be designed by the council liked the community. However, the capstone is not the original sandstone, which was used as a Germanic sacrificial site, but the millstone from the neighboring village of Stemmen . Because of an outrage, the place supplied this replacement stone around 1885, because young people from Stemmen, in high spirits, rolled the original stone through the town like a cartwheel until it overturned and broke. |
Culture and sights
The Lügensteine are at the confluence of the Lügensteinstrasse with the federal road in front of the Hundred Year Oak. Oak and stones are both used in the town's coat of arms.
