Ed French

Edward "Ed" French (born April 17, 1951 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American makeup artist and special effects artist .

Life

French began his career in film crew in 1985 at the B-Movie - slasher Nightmare , directed by Romano Scavolini . A number of other horror films followed such as Amityville II - The Obsessed and Creepshow 2 . In 1992 , French was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Makeup and Best Hairstyles for Nicholas Meyer's science fiction film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Land along with Michael Mills and Richard Snell , but the award went to James Camerons that year Terminator 2 - Day of Reckoning . French has worked under renowned directors such as James Cameron, Clint Eastwood , Brian De Palma and William Friedkin throughout his career .

In addition to his film engagements, French has also worked for television, including the series MADtv , Monk and 2 Broke Girls . Between 1991 and 2017 he was nominated eight times for a Primetime Emmy for his work . He won the award twice, in 2007 for an episode of Dr. House , and an episode of Westworld in 2017 .
