Edgewater is a city in Bergen County , New Jersey , United States . The 2010 census recorded a population of 11,513.

The city's geographic coordinates are 40 ° 49'48 "north latitude and 73 ° 58'26" west longitude.
According to the American surveying office, the city has a total area of 6.3 km² , of which 2.2 km² is land and 4.1 km² (64.88%) is water.

Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there are 7,677 people, 3,836 households and 1,971 families in the city. The population density is 3,487.2 inhabitants per km². 67.12% of the population is White, 3.52% African American , 0.21% Native American , 23.12% Asian , 0.04% Pacific Islander , 2.94% from other races, and 3.05% mixed race . 10.45% are Latinos of any race.
Of the 3,836 households, 20.0% have children under the age of 18. 40.0% of them are married couples living together, 8.4% are single mothers, 48.6% are not families, 39.1% consist of single households and 6.3% are people over 65. The average household size is 2 .00, the average family size 2.70.
15.4% of the population are under 18 years old, 5.3% between 18 and 24, 46.7% between 25 and 44, 23.6% between 45 and 64, 8.9% older than 65. The average age is 36 years. The ratio of women to men is 100: 94.9, for people older than 18 the ratio is 100: 92.9.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 63,455 and the median income for a family is $ 72,692. Males have a median income of $ 50,795 versus $ 49,238 for females.
