Eduard Moritz Bernhard Hüger (born December 20, 1826 in Coesfeld , † September 29, 1895 in Hanover ) was a Prussian district administrator in the Zell district .

Life

Eduard was a son of Wilhelm Hüger and since May 31, 1855 in Münster (Westphalia) with Franziska Josephina Antonia born. Kövener married. After successfully attending school at Nepomucenum Gymnasium in Coesfeld , Hüger studied law in Bonn from 1845 to 1848 . After completing his studies, he was initially employed in Neuwied , Braunfels and Koblenz , where he worked as a government assessor in the Upper Presidium of the Rhine Province from February 28, 1857 . After 3 years of activity in Koblenz, Hüger - meanwhile appointed as assessor - received his appointment as provisional district administrator in the old district of Zell an der Mosel on September 20, 1860, which was followed by a permanent appointment on January 12, 1861 the following year.

After his arrival in Zell, however, Hüger discovered that the offices of the district administration in the old Zell castle were only in a kind of provisional state. The local judge continued to do his job here and the apartments there were still inhabited by two middle-class families. In order to get adequate office space, Hüger bought the house in Zell at Schloßstraße 27, now known as the "Hirsch Pharmacy", and set up his district office and official apartment here.

When, after a dispute over several years, a new church was built in Irmenach , which the previous District Administrator Ulrich had to carry out and which had already been rejected twice, "a favorable turn occurred on April 30, 1861" . District Administrator Hüger therefore reported to the government that, in accordance with resolutions by the congregation and the presbytery and the corresponding meetings held on April 3 and 14, 1861, nothing stood in the way of building the new church .

In 1863 he was one of the supporters of two new general and cattle markets to be held in the district. The first should be held on the 1st Tuesday in May in Zell and the other on the 2nd Tuesday in Alf (Mosel) . During the time of his work as district administrator in Zell, the mining operations in Altlay ( Altlayer Bach ) were restarted, although it is not known whether and to what extent Hüger was involved in this process. After a little more than 6 years in office, on April 30, 1867, he was transferred to the local government in Münster, and from here to Hanover . Hüger died there in September 1895.
