Hans Puhl (born October 19, 1907 in Horhausen (Westerwald) , † September 11, 1982 in Bonn ) was a German diplomat and district administrator in the district of Zell (Mosel) .

Life

After the death of his father, who died in the First World War in 1917, Puhl and his mother moved from Güls to his brother, who was a doctor, in Bad Godesberg . Already during his school days he was involved in the Catholic youth movement Bund New Germany , where he partly took on management tasks throughout the whole of Germany. After completing his school education, he studied law and then took the 2nd state examination. This was followed by his doctorate and finally he took his first job at Allianz in Berlin .

In August 1939 he was called up for military service in the Wehrmacht and initially deployed in Russia and later in France . After the end of World War II , Puhl became director of the tracing service center of the Bavarian Red Cross . 3 years later, in autumn 1948, he moved from Munich to the Moselle to take his first job as district administrator in the Zell district. He stayed here until 1954, during which time he was mainly occupied with rebuilding the district area, which was still largely destroyed. These included, in particular, the rebuilding of the Zeller District Office, which was destroyed in the war, the construction of a secondary school and the Moselle bridge between Zell and Kaimt, as well as the construction of a new bypass, the federal highway 421 . It was Hans Puhl to whom the following words from this period go back.

"Viticulture is the economic basis of the district"

In 1954 he moved from Zell to the human resources department of the Foreign Office , before taking up his first position as German Consul General in Salzburg in 1959. Puhl received his second position and appointment as consul general for the consulate general in Rotterdam after the 49th cabinet meeting on October 26, 1966. On October 3, 1968, Hans Puhl received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class, for his long service. On November 12, 1969, Puhl was given early retirement due to a planned change from the head of the Foreign Office , Walter Scheel . Although this rejuvenation campaign was viewed as very controversial, the minister nevertheless found understanding with four of the 25 diplomats affected by the recall , including Puhl. After Foreign Minister Scheel was convicted of this personnel policy after a lawsuit by eight of the diplomats concerned in the second instance in 1973 by the Higher Administrative Court of Münster , Puhl was pleased with the words ...

"... that an injustice has been cleared up here that can be seen."
