The city of Avila is only 10 km (driving distance) in a north-easterly direction. Because of its proximity to the city of Avila, the municipality's population has remained largely stable since the mid-19th century.

economy

Agriculture (especially cattle breeding) traditionally played the largest role in the municipality's formerly self-sufficient economic life, which, however, developed more and more into a suburb of Ávila in the second half of the 20th century.

history

In the first millennium BC The municipality was probably part of the settlement area of the Celtic Vettons . Roman , Visigoth and even Arabic-Moorish traces are missing. In the 11th and 12th centuries, the Valle de Amblés was probably recaptured by the Christians more or less without a fight ( reconquista ) and then repopulated ( repoblación ) .

Attractions

The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción dates back to the early 19th century and was built on the site of a small previous building. In 1961 the vault collapsed; it was replaced by a wooden flat ceiling. When the vault collapsed, the interior was also destroyed.
