Elmar Krautkrämer

Elmar Krautkrämer (born May 27, 1927 in Reich , Hunsrück , † October 1, 2016 in Braunschweig ) was a German historian .

Life

Elmar Krautkrämer attended high school in Halberstadt . After serving in the military and being a prisoner of war, he completed his Abitur in 1946. He then studied German, English, history and politics for teaching at grammar schools in Bamberg , Heidelberg , Halle , Mainz and Darmstadt . During his studies in 1947 he became a member of the student association KDSt.V. Fredericia Bamberg in the CV . He took his first exam in Halle. In 1959 he was in Mainz with a thesis on Georg Friedrich Kolb doctorate .

Elmar Krautkrämer was a high school teacher in Karlsruhe , Gießen , Rüsselsheim and Darmstadt from 1952 to 1971 . In 1971 he was appointed to the Freiburg University of Education , where he taught as Professor of Modern History until his retirement in 1993 . Krautkrämer last lived in Kirchzarten .

Krautkrämer published books on modern history, the most successful being his work The Turning of the War in France in 1942 , for which there was also a French translation. He also published for the magazines Aus Politik und Zeitgeschichte (APuZ) and the quarterly issue of contemporary history .

Krautkrämer died on October 1st, 2016 in Braunschweig.
