The FFH area Elzbachtal and Odenwald Neckargerach is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-6521-311) in the Neckar-Odenwald district designated by ordinance of 2005 of the Karlsruhe regional council according to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) and in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis in Baden-Württemberg . The FFH area is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas .
description
The FFH area includes the Neckar valley with steep, wooded valley slopes, rock debris heaps , sandstone gorges , side valleys with near-natural streams, extensively managed meadows, a ravine forest , a lake , open spring meadows , low and medium-sized forests and Odenwald plateaus with peatland and heather communities.
Protection purpose
The following habitat types according to Annex I of the Habitats Directive occur in the area:
- Species-rich bristle grass lawn
- Pipe grass meadows
- Moist tall herbaceous vegetation
- Lean, lowland hay meadows
- Mixed ravine and hillside forests
- Alder, ash and softwood alluvial forests
- Sternmieren - oak-hornbeam forests
- Silicate rocks with crevice vegetation
- Grove beech forests
- Woodruff beech forests
- Dry heaths
- Running waters with flooding aquatic vegetation
- Natural and near-natural nutrient-rich still waters with pondweed - or frog-bite groups
