Epoche was a quarterly right-wing conservative magazine of the Association for Journalism and Youth Education Epoche eV in Bad Reichenhall . It was founded in 1976 by Hans Habe . The last issue No. 149 was published in 2001.

history

The magazine saw itself as a “compendium” of the non-profit association, which defined itself as a “Christian-conservative-liberal think tank ”. "Youth and school newspapers, youth groups and non-left student organizations" should be equipped with this publication "with arguments and ideas".

An EPOCHE online article service allowed youth magazines, school newspapers and student publications and "all organs of Christian educational journalism to take over contributions free of charge." .

According to its own statements, the magazine was aimed at “young opinion leaders” who, as “mentally alert young people who mistrust left wishful thinking” and “feel drawn to the conservative-liberal side”.

The founding presidents of the association were the former Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Otto Schedl and the then deputy federal chairman of the German Union Dietrich Bahner . Winfried Martini , Walter Hoeres , Karl Ludwig Bayer , Hans Habe , Hans Weigel , Walter Eckhardt , Gerhard Wolfgang Goldberg and Franz Josef Strauss are named as important early sponsors in the magazine.

The association's managing director was Karl Ludwig Bayer , former press spokesman for the Bavarian NPD (1971), later member of the presidium of the Federal NPD (1975) and later head of the “ anti-communist ” and right-wing extremist historical and cultural working group . The latter has distanced itself from its past and now represents a moderately conservative-liberal policy.

Thomas Goppel , CSU, Bavarian Science Minister, said he was the Bavarian Environment Minister at that time in 1996 and took over the patronage of the magazine's environmental forum and officially terminated it in 2001.

The association no longer exists since 2002.
