Erdin Demir (born March 27, 1990 in Malmö ) is a Swedish football player of Turkish descent . The full-back , who has played for Swedish and Norwegian clubs in his previous career, played for various Swedish youth national teams from 2007 and made his debut in the Swedish national team in 2012 .

Career

Demir began playing football in the Malmö FF youth team . There he developed into a youth national player and played a total of eleven international matches for the Swedish U-19 youth national team in 2007 and 2008 . In 2008 he moved up to the extended professional squad. For the club, however, he was not used in the Allsvenskan , only in the national cup he played competitive games. In 2009, therefore, the club loaned him to local rivals IFK Malmö at the start of the season , with whom he competed in fourth-class Division 2 .

In summer 2009 Demir moved to the third division IF Limhamn Bunkeflo in Division 1 Södra . Here he convinced as a regular player and attracted high class attention. In autumn 2010, the first division side Trelleborgs FF announced the commitment of the player from the turn of the year, with the parties having agreed on a three-year contract. Even in the Allsvenskan he was a regular player right away, so that he played his way back into the circle of the national teams. In the 4-1 win over Norway’s offspring , he came as a substitute for Miiko Albornoz from the 77th minute of the game to make his debut in the U-21 team, for which he regularly played in the subsequent qualification for the U-21 European Championship in 2013 . While the selection settled at the top of their qualifying group, the 2011 season was less successful. With the team around Kristian Haynes , Tuomo Turunen , Marcus Pode and Mattias Adelstam , he was in a relegation battle, as the club's penultimate missed the league.

Nevertheless, Demir had convinced with his performances and in mid-December national coach Erik Hamrén nominated him, along with other U-21 players, for a January tour of the senior national team. Shortly before, his club move to Norway had already become known. He had signed a four-year contract with the Norwegian club SK Brann . Before the start of the Norwegian season 2012 , he was on the pitch in the 2-0 win over Bahrain on January 18, alongside the other debutants Pontus Jansson , Oscar Hiljemark , Niklas Hult , Marcus Olsson , Viktor Claesson , Erik Friberg and Mikael Dyrestam and also ran in the 5-0 win against Qatar five days later. At the start of the season he was in the starting eleven under coach Rune Skarsfjord at his club, but lost his regular place after a few game days. He only returned to the starting line-up from the middle of the season, so that he had played 22 league games in his first year in Norway. At the same time, however, he remained in the squad of the Swedish U-21 selection, which only missed participation in the U-21 European Championship finals in 2013 in the play-off games against Italy .

In 2015 he moved to Belgium to the first division team Waasland-Beveren and in 2018 to league rivals SV Zulte Waregem .
