Viktor Claesson (born January 2, 1992 in Värnamo ) is a Swedish football player . The midfielder , who won the Swedish championship title in 2012, made his debut for the Swedish national football team in the same year .
Career
Claesson started playing football at IFK Värnamo . There he went through the individual youth teams and was appointed to the national jersey for the first time in 2008 by the people in charge of Svenska Fotbollförbundet when he appeared for the Swedish U-16 selection. In the same year he made his debut for the competition team in the third division Division 1 when he was used in the final league game of the third division season 2008 against the Gothenburg club Västra Frölunda IF . In the following years he became a regular. With the team overseen by Jonas Thern , with young players like Simon Thern , Joseph Baffo and Lalawélé Atakora , he won the southern season in the third division season in 2010 and rose to the second-rate Superettan . With eleven goals this season and six assists, the attacking midfielder was one of the guarantees of success.
In the second division, Claesson was still one of the club's undisputed regular players. With 13 goals this season, he was one of the ten most successful players in the league as the club's best goalscorer, and he had prepared eight goals. Although he ended the season with the team on a relegation place , both barrage games against third division club Väsby United were won and thus relegation was achieved. In addition, after his debut in 2010, he had established himself in the Swedish U-21 national team under selection coach Håkan Ericson in 2011 and was also a regular member of the squad when the team qualified for the 2013 U-21 European Championship from September 2011 intervention. With his good performances over the course of the season, he had also played his way into the notebook of national coach Erik Hamrén and in December he nominated him, along with several newcomers, for a January tour of the senior national team to Qatar. In the 2-0 success against the national team of Bahrain on January 18, 2012 through goals from Tobias Hysén and the debutant Oscar Hiljemark , he made his first appearance in the selection as a substitute for Stefan Ishizaki from the 73rd minute, his starting eleven debut at 5: 0 win against Qatar five days later, he crowned it with the goal of the 2-0 intermediate result.
Claesson had previously announced his move to IF Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan shortly after the end of the season in November 2011 . He signed a four-year contract with the Borås club . Initially, he was a substitute here, too, in the course of the 2012 season, and at the end of the season he won the Swedish championship title alongside Stefan Ishizaki , Oscar Hiljemark , Johan Larsson and Niklas Hult . At the same time, he was largely part of the U-21 selection that qualified for the play-off games for the 2013 European Championship. There he missed the final round with the team against the Italian youth team by two defeats.
In January 2017 he moved to the Russian Premier League for FK Krasnodar . On February 16, Claesson made his first appearance for the Russian club in the round of 32 of the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League against Fenerbahçe Istanbul and scored his first goal for the Russians.
