Career

society

In his youth, Jón Guðni Fjóluson played in Fjarðabyggð and then moved to Fram Reykjavík . In 2007 he made his debut at the age of 17 against Breiðablik Kópavogur in the Pepsideild , the top division of Iceland. In the 2007 and 2008 seasons he was only used sporadically with three appearances each. In the 2009 season, however, Jón played in 17 of the 22 games, most of them over the full season. He was able to mark his first goal in the 5-0 win over Keflavík ÍF on August 6, 2009. Four more goals followed during the season. In July 2009, Jón appeared in four Europa League qualifying round games. With two wins against Welsh club The New Saints FC , the second round could be reached, in which, however, despite the goal of Jón Guðni Fjóluson to the 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Czech SK Sigma Olomouc was eliminated. Also in 2010 he was able to register five times in the list of goalscorers in 17 games of Pepsideild.

In the autumn and winter of 2010, Jón Guðni Fjóluson completed trial training sessions at FC Bayern Munich , PSV Eindhoven and Fortuna Düsseldorf , but a move was not an option for the time being and it also began in the 2011 season for Fram Reykjavík.

On June 6, 2011 Jón's move to the Belgian first division club Germinal Beerschot was announced. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season , he joined the Antwerp club, known as a talent factory, at the beginning of July 2011 , thus rejecting the traditional Greek club AEK Athens . On January 14, 2012 he came in the game against Standard Liège for his first appearance in the Jupiler Pro League .

After Jón Guðni Fjóluson was hardly used in Belgium, he moved to the Swedish first division club GIF Sundsvall at the end of August 2012 . There he made his debut on September 2, 2012 (21st matchday) against IFK Göteborg . In the rest of the game year he was used in five more games. Since GIF Sundsvall only reached 14th place, the club had to compete in the relegation against Halmstads BK . He was also used in the 3-0 defeat in the first leg, but the result could not be reversed in the second leg, so that GIF Sundsvall had to return to the second division after just one year .

National team

On August 12, 2009 Jón made his debut in the 2-0 defeat against the Czech Republic in the Icelandic U-21 national team. This was followed by seven more appearances in qualifying for the 2011 U-21 European Championship in Denmark . He and his team managed to qualify for participation in the European Championship in a direct duel with the reigning U-21 European champions Germany . Coach Eyjólfur Sverrisson appointed him to the squad for the finals at the end of May 2011. There he was used in all three group matches against Denmark, Belarus and Switzerland, but retired with his team after the preliminary round.

On March 21, 2010 he completed his first game for the Icelandic national team with his use in the 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands .
