Erhard Drews (born November 21, 1952 in Müssen / Lippe district ) is a major general a. D. of the army of the Bundeswehr . In his last assignment he was head of the Office for Army Development of the Bundeswehr from January 2013 to November 2014 .

Military career

In 1971, Drews joined the German Army Training Battalion 94 in Munster . After training as an officer , he served in various positions from 1975 to 1982, including as a platoon leader , intelligence officer ( S2 ) and company commander in Panzer Battalion 64 in Wolfhagen . From 1982 to 1983 Drews was deployed as an operations officer (S3) in the staff of the 2nd Panzer Grenadier Division in Kassel for a year. From 1983 to 1986 he completed general staff training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg and then served until 1987 as a G3 staff officer of the III. Corps in Koblenz . From 1987 to 1989 he was also employed in Koblenz as a G3 staff officer of Panzerbrigade 34 .

In 1989 Drews moved to the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonn and was employed there until 1991 as an Army Planning Officer in the Army Command Staff (FüH). Subsequently, from 1991 to 1992 he took over a troop command with the 343 tank battalion in Koblenz, which he held for a year. In 1992 he was transferred to the leadership academy in Hamburg, where he taught troop leadership and was also a tutor for general staff training until 1995. In 1995, Drews became a staff member of the Military District Command III / 7. Panzer Division moved to Düsseldorf , where he was in charge of the operations department (G3) until 1997. Back in Germany, Drews took on the post of Deputy Commander of the Air Mobile Operations Division in Veitshöchheim from 2002 to 2003 under the command of Dieter Budde . Following this assignment, Drews was transferred to Cologne and served in the Army Office there from 2003 to 2004 as Head of Department IV Organization. From 2004 to 2005 he was finally Chief of Staff of the Army Office under the command of Jürgen Ruwe . From 2005 to 2009 he was in command of the Bundeswehr Transformation Center in Waldbröl / Strausberg and has been in command of the Air Mobility Operations division since February 12, 2009. On September 9, 2011, he took over command of the KFOR troops in Kosovo from Erhard Bühler and handed it over to Volker Halbauer on September 7, 2012 after one year . From January 1, 2013 to November 24, 2014 Drews was head of the Army Development Office (until 2013 Army Office) of the Bundeswehr in Cologne.
