Erhard Grundl (born January 7, 1963 in Mallersdorf ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life and professional activity

After attending the Burkhart-Gymnasium in Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg and the Staatliche Fachoberschule Straubing , Grundl began studying social pedagogy at the University of Applied Sciences in Regensburg in 1985 , which he left in 1987 without a degree. From 1987 to 1997 he was a member of the rock band " Baby You Know " and from 1991 to 2017 he worked as a sales manager in the music industry.

Erhard Grundl is married and has two grown children.

politics

Grundl joined the Greens in 2004 . From 2004 to 2008 he was chairman of the district association of the Greens in Straubing and from 2012 to 2017 district chairman of the Greens in Lower Bavaria . From 2015 to 2017 he was a member of the Bavarian State Committee of the Greens and from 2015 to 2017 was a delegate in the State Council.

In 2008 Grundl moved into the city ​​council of Straubing as a Green , where he was chairman of the Green City Council from 2014 to 2017. In the 2017 federal election , Grundl entered the Bundestag via the Bavarian state list. As a direct candidate in the Straubing constituency , he received 3.6% of the first votes .

In the German Bundestag , Grundl is chairman of the Greens in the committee for culture and media , as well as spokesman for cultural policy . He is also a member of the sports committee . In his speeches in the plenary session of the Bundestag, Grundl often explains his arguments with examples from popular culture . So far Gerhard Polt , Rammstein , Die Ärzte , Funny van Dannen , Helene Fischer and Mr. Burns from the Simpsons have been part of his political discourse. In a plenary debate on culture in rural areas he cited "Goin 'up the Country" by Canned Heat and in his speech on the debate (1st reading) "Recognition of the Nazi victim groups of the so-called" anti-social "and" professional criminals "" he recommended that they go home and listen to Bob Dylan's Chimes of Freedom to help them make a decision . In January 2019, Grundl and four other MPs from the SPD, Left Party and Greens were guests on a Sea Watch ship in the Mediterranean.

Brussels Declaration

On July 1, 2018, Grundl and Claudia Roth initiated the Brussels Declaration for the Freedom of Art. It opposes global legal national influence on art and culture by individual parties and governments in Europe and especially Germany. 53,000 people have signed the declaration (as of January 6, 2019). These include artists such as Hape Kerkeling , Inga Humpe , Wladimir Kaminer , Igor Levit , Dirk von Lowtzow , Feo Aladag , Frank Spilker and Shermin Langhoff .

At the 18th Annual General Meeting in Bonn, Erhard Grundl was elected to the Board of the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft on November 24, 2018 .
