Eric Selleck (born October 20, 1987 in Spencerville , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Bratislava Capitals from the Slovak 1st hokejová league since October 2019 and plays there in the position of the left winger .

Career

Selleck played during his junior years between 2004 and 2008 in the lower class junior leagues of Canada and then went from 2008 to the State University of New York at Oswego . There he played for the next two years for the ice hockey university team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association .

His achievements in the NCAA with 80 scorer points in 54 games and numerous individual awards over two years made the undrafted free agent interesting for higher-class teams in the professional area. In April 2010, for example, the Florida Panthers from the National Hockey League secured the services of the Enforcer for two years after letting him take part in their summer training camp in the previous two years. With the beginning of the 2010/11 season , the Panthers put the attacker in their farm team , the Rochester Americans , in the American Hockey League . From the 2011/12 season and two one-year contract extensions, Selleck was active for the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL until March 2014 . During this time he also made his NHL debut when he played twice for Florida in the 2012/13 season .

In March 2014, however, the Panthers separated from Selleck and transferred him to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Mark Mancari . They immediately gave him to their AHL farm team Chicago Wolves , where he spent the rest of the 2013/14 season. With the Blues not interested in a contract extension, the striker joined the Portland Pirates from the AHL as a free agent . However, his one-year contract was not valid for the NHL. It was only before the 2015/16 season that Selleck received a so-called two-way contract from the Arizona Coyotes that was valid for both leagues. The Coyotes had become aware of the Canadian because they had cooperated with the Portland Pirates in the preseason. During the 2015/16 season, Selleck ran for the Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League and also played a game for the Coyotes in the NHL. For the 2016/17 season , the striker signed with the Tucson Roadrunners from the AHL. The following year he moved to league rivals Hartford Wolf Pack . Hartford sold Selleck to the Belleville Senators in February 2018 for no further consideration .

For the 2018/19 season, the Canadian moved to HC 05 Banská Bystrica in the Slovak Extraliga , with which he became Slovak champion at the end of the season . He then moved to the up-and-coming second division club Bratislava Capitals .
