Ján Lipiansky (sometimes Lipianský ) (born July 23, 1974 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player . Since July 2020 he has been under contract with the Bratislava Capitals from the ICE Hockey League as a coach .
Career
Ján Lipiansky began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HC Slovan Bratislava , for whose professional team he made his debut in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak division, in the 1992/93 season . After the division of Czechoslovakia, he spent the following four years with Slovan Bratislava in the newly founded Slovakian Extraliga . In the 1994/95 season he also played seven games for the Hershey Bears from the American Hockey League , after he had previously been selected by their cooperation partner Philadelphia Flyers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft in the eleventh round as a total of 240th player. The center was active abroad for the first time in the 1997/98 season , when it initially worked for HC Energie Karlovy Vary from the Czech Extraliga and then for Ässät Pori and Tappara Tampere from the Finnish SM-liiga and the Kalix HF from Division 1 , the second highest Swedish league at the time.
From 1998 to 2000 Lipiansky played again for HC Slovan Bratislava, with whom he won the Slovak championship title for the first time in his career in the 1999/2000 season . In the following season he was Czech champion with the HC Slovnaft Vsetín . He spent the main round of the 2001/02 season at his ex-club Ässät Pori in the Finnish SM-liiga. During the playoffs, he came two appearances for HC Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss National League A . The 2002/03 season began with the former national player at HC Slovan Bratislava in the Slovakian Extraliga and ended with the Kassel Huskies in the German Ice Hockey League . In summer 2003 he returned to HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. During the 2004/05 season he joined HC Košice from his Slovak homeland, for which he was then on the ice for two and a half years. He spent the 2007/08 season at both HKm Zvolen and HK Nitra in the Slovakian extra league. In the following season he started again at HKm Zvolen before returning to his home club HC Slovan Bratislava. With this he again won the Slovak championship title in the 2011/12 season .
For the 2012/13 season Slovan Bratislava was included in the Continental Hockey League . After the end of his first KHL season, Lipiansky ended his career and became an assistant coach at HC Slovan. In 2014 he took over a coaching position in the youth division of HC Slovan. Then he was responsible for the Slovak U17 national team. In July 2020 he was signed by the Bratislava Capitals , where he is again assistant coach to Rostislav Čada .
International
For Czechoslovakia , Lipiansky took part in the U18 European Junior Championship in 1992 , where he won the gold medal with his team. For Slovakia he took part in the U20 Junior C World Championship in 1994 . He was also in his country's squad for the 1999 World Cup .
