Erich Rost

Erich Rost (born April 19, 1919 in Kirchworbis , Eichsfeld ) is a former German functionary of the GDR bloc party LDPD . He was chairman of the district associations Magdeburg and Berlin of the LDPD, member of the People's Chamber and deputy minister of finances of the GDR .

Life

Rost, son of a working class family, attended elementary school in Kirchworbis, the district middle school in Worbis and the grammar school in Duderstadt . He did military service in World War II .

After the war ended, he joined the Liberal Democratic Party in 1946. Rost was initially a clerk and consultant in the Mühlhausen finance administration as well as consultant and deputy head of the Thuringian state finance department . From 1952 he acted as head of the tax subdivision at the Erfurt District Council . 1954/1955 he was deputy chairman of the council of the Erfurt district. In 1954 he completed a distance learning course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg with a degree in economics . From 1955 to 1960 he was deputy chairman of the council of the Magdeburg district and at the same time chairman of the Magdeburg district board of the LDPD. From 1955 to 1989 he was a member of the central executive committee of the LDPD and from July 1960 (8th party congress) to its political committee. From 1958 to 1960 he was a member of the Magdeburg District Assembly and from April 1960 to November 1963 a member of the Berlin People's Chamber (moved up for the deceased member Gerhilde Engelhardt ). From 1959 to 1961 he was secretary of the LDPD central board of the LDPD and chairman of the Berlin district association of the LDPD. From 1961 to 1972 he worked as deputy minister for finances in the GDR. From November 1972 to August 1984 he was a member of the Presidium and Secretariat of the National Council of the National Front. Rost retired in 1989.
