Erich Walter Stadler (born September 4, 1927 in Immenstadt , † June 26, 1968 in Kempten ) was a German sculptor .

Artistic career

Erich Walter Stadler was born in Immenstadt im Allgäu in 1927 and attended school there until he was drafted into the Heimatflak in 1942. From there he joined the military . After the war he made his way home from Verona . From 1946 to 1947 he was an apprentice in the Baldauf company's stonemasonry in Immenstadt, until he came to Oberstdorf as a student of the painter and sculptor Hermann Alfred Raddatz . There he was able to develop his artistic skills. It created sculptures and portraits . From 1948 to 1950 he was in Lindau on Lake Constance with the sculptor Willi Veit in order to further train himself as a craftsman, then in Kressbronn from 1950 to 1952 with the sculptor Berthold Müller-Oerlinghausen , where he dealt with the technique of the mosaic . There he met his future wife Christiane, geb. Dorfmüller, know. They had four daughters. With her he founded a mosaic workshop in Immenstadt in 1953. In 1955 the workshop and studio were relocated to Nonnenhorn . There was also space for employees and space to carry out larger mosaics, wall designs, glass windows and column cladding in addition to the already introduced collection of mosaic tables. Here Stadler created a picture of grief frozen in pain for those senselessly murdered during the war.
