Ernie Sims III (* 23. December 1984 in Tallahassee , Florida ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of Outside linebackers . He played in the National Football League (NFL), most recently for the Dallas Cowboys .

Earlier years

Sims played for North Florida Christian High School . From 1998 to 2001 Sims played with his high school team in four state championships. In 2003 , Sims was named Best High School Player by rivals.com school sports portal, ahead of second-only Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints .

college

Sims played for the Seminoles Football at Florida State University . In his freshman year, Sims played all the games for the Seminoles. Overall, he played a good season and finished it in ninth place in the team's internal tackle statistics. In his sophomore year of college, Sims played all twelve games, the last eleven as a starter. Sims had such a good season that he was named to ESPN 's First Team All American . In his third year, expectations for Sims were very high. The The Sporting News and other publications esteemed him highly and chose him each in its First All American Team . Although Sims reached the Orange Bowl with the Seminoles and was a starter in all 13 games, he could not fully confirm the expectations placed in him. It was not a spectacular season, but it was a productive one. At the end of the season, Sims announced that he would no longer play his senior year in college and signed up for the 2006 NFL Draft . Sims played with the number 34 at college. This number was originally no longer given by the Seminoles as it was the number of the Seminoles player Ron Sellers .

NFL career

Sims was drafted ninth in Round 1 by the Detroit Lions in 2006 . On July 30, 2006, Sims signed a five-year contract with the Lions for $ 15.7 million, of which 12.1 is guaranteed. Sims was able to assert himself as a starter in his rookie year and played all 16 games. On December 3, 2006, Sims had their strongest game so far against the New England Patriots with a total of 13 tackles . On September 3, 2007, Sims was selected as one of the five team captains. Former head coach Rod Marinelli compared Sims to young Derrick Brooks of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . He said he was just as quick and safe a tackle specialist as Brooks was.

Life

Sims has been married to Brooke McGriff since May 29, 2009. Sim's mother, Alice Sims formerly Bennett, was a successful All American sprinter for the Florida State Track and Field Team from 1980 to 1983. His younger brother, Marcus Sims, is considered a talented running back . Sims is also a big animal lover. In addition to several snakes , Sims has other reptiles , hence his nickname "The Snake Charmer". To mark the occasion, FOX television produced a documentary about Sims and his pets before a game against the Minnesota Vikings .
