Ernst Scheer

Ernst Scheer (* 4. September 1887 in Herisau , † 7. March 1960 ibid ; from Kuenheim in the Upper Rhine , heimatberechtigt from 1889 in Herisau) was a Swiss politician , entrepreneur and Cantonal from the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Ernst Scheer was the son of Jean Scheer, owner of a metal construction company in Herisau, and Bertha Preisig. Scheer married Lilly Sophie Höppli in 1912, daughter of Jakob Höppli, authorized signatory .

He first did an apprenticeship as a locksmith in his father's company. Scheer then completed an apprenticeship as a structural engineer in Winterthur . He did additional commercial training in Zurich . After Scheer worked as a designer for a bridge construction company in Hanover , he took over his father's company in 1912. In 1936 Scheer converted the company into a stock corporation . E. Scheer AG was active in the field of iron structures and mechanical engineering. It was continued by his son Ernst Friedrich Scheer and employed around 200 people in the 1960s. Scheer was a councilor in Herisau from 1922 to 1926 . From 1927 to 1948 he held a seat in the Ausserrhoder Cantonal Council, where he was mainly involved in the school system . Schiess served as President of the Appenzell Officers' Society from 1929 to 1936 . He was also a member of the Säntis Freemasonry and held the military degree of colonel .
