In 1738 he married Countess Josepha von Hartig (1714–1738), a daughter of the real imperial court councilor Anton Graf von Hartig (1681–1754). The marriage resulted in two daughters:

  • Elisabeth Louise Amalia (1752–1802) ⚭ Johann Wenzel von Haugwitz (1754–1813), Prussian councilor

In 1731 he became an Anhalt-Zerbstscher chamberlain, court and government councilor and in 1738 he advanced to the real Reichshofrat with a seat and vote on the man's bench at the imperial court. In 1744 he was raised to the rank of imperial count , which was recognized in Prussia in 1746. When the rank was raised, he switched to the count bank in the Reichshofrat. With the death of Charles VII he diminished and went into Prussian service, where in 1746 he became a real Prussian secret budget and war minister and cloakroom master ( grand maitre de la garderobe ) of the royal house. In 1747 he took over the realm, border and judicial matters at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Since 1740 he was co-lord of Wagenitz, Briesen, Landin, Bredikow, Brunne, Stechow, Lochow and shares in Vietznitz and Hage. With the death of his brother, who remained in the battle of Soor , in 1745 he was de jure sole master of Wagenitz, 1/2 Bredikow, Brunne, Stechow and parts in Lesickow, Manker, Lenzke, Ferchesar, Tarmow and Freisack. Nevertheless, he was in a legal dispute with his brothers over this estate almost until the end of his life.
