At the Erzwäschebach

Erzwäsch is a district of the Titting market in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The former Erzwäschebach is a wasteland in the north-western part of the southern Franconian Jura northwest of Titting in a valley between the Pfleimberg (Kreuzberg) and the Geißloh on the Erzwäschebach , which flows towards the Anlauter in a north-easterly direction . From Titting the street "Am Kreuzberg" and from the nearby table mill another road leads to the desert.

history

In the ore washed from several, partly abundant sources, the iron ore mined in pits on the Jura plateau or the ground ore collected from the fields was freed from clay and earth by the ore washers , sorted and classified before it was sent to the local prince-bishop's office in Obereichstätt for further processing. Eichstättische Eisenverhüttungswerk was brought. It is uncertain since when the facility was used; The ore washing was in operation until 1862, when the blast furnace in Obereichstätt was shut down.

With Titting the prince-bishop's underwear became Tuscan in 1802 and royal Bavarian in 1806. In 1823 the water of the ore washing was described as "clear, pure healthy water, which is used here for washing ore washing".

Today, as in 1823, the district of Erzwäsch consists of a property. In 1925 ten people lived in two apartment buildings in the Erzwlauch, and in 1938 four people. In 1950 the property was inhabited by five people, in 1961 by three people. In 1970 only two residents were counted. The place was uninhabited at the 1987 census.
